1. The Residency
and Fellowship Training Program
The Institute of Dermatology is approved by the Thai Medical Council for Residency
Training in Dermatology. There are 4 positions for resident each year. The Thai Board
requires one year training in Internal Medicine and three-year training in Dermatology
before taking the examination.

2. The Course for General Practitioners
A one month course in Dermatology is conducted each year for Thai general practitioners to
familiarize them with common skin diseases, to diagnose, manage and /or refer cases for
proper treatment, available for 50 participants.
3. The
International Diploma Course
Prospectus
The Diploma Course in Dermatology was established
jointly by the Royal Thai Government and the Government of Japan in 1984 as a part of
their Technical Cooperation Program. It is the first and the only one Dermatological
training center in Asia and Pacific region. The course is held at the Institute of
Dermatology, Thailand, the duration is one academic year (10 months), starting from May to
the following February. It is organized to serve to Asian and Pacific region doctors.
Lectures and conducted in English. Applicants should be nominated by their governments
through the Department of Technical and Economic Cooperetion of Thailand for scholarships
offered by the Thai and Japanese governments. Private participants are also welcome in the
Course and may apply directly to the Institute of Dermatology. The total number of
participants from among the government nominees is 21 (7 Thais, 14 foreigners). Enrollment
for private participants is limited to 5 individuals.
4. The Refresher Course
A course for current knowledge in dermatology is arranged once a year for two days. The
program included are lectures, a workshop, a symposium on recent advances in dermatology
and case demonstrations. The participants are alumni of the Institute, dermatologists, and
general practitioners who are interested in dermatology, available for up to 100
participants.
