Out-Patient Services

    The out-patient department consists of one large teaching room for patients demonstration, twelve well equipped cubicles and a treatment room for minor physical and surgical procedures, such as injections, biopsies, dressings and liquid nitrogen applications. Patients are referred to the Institute by general practitioners from all parts of Thailand. The number of new out-patients seen is about 30,000 and the total number of attendances is about 90,000 each year.


Special clinics include :

1. Occupational and Environmental Dermatoses This clinic provides investigations for patients with uspected contact dermatitis referred by general skin clinics and from other hospitals by performing patch testing under international standard methods and materials recommended by the ICDRG. When needed, a team of specialists will visit the problem sites so that appropriate preventive measures can be recommended.

2. Pediatric dermatology
Specific skin conditions in childhood for example, genetic disorders, atopic dermatitis, and autoimmune disorders are managed and followed in this clinic.

3. Skin surgery Patients with skin tumors or growths and other dermatoses requiring surgery are treated by various modalities, electric cautery, scalpel surgery, dermabrasion, cryotherapy, etc.

4. Phototodermatology Patients with photosensitive disorders and some photoresponsive dermatoses such as psoriasis, vitiligo, pityriasis lichenoides chronica, exfoliative dermatitis, alopecia totalis are treated by ultraviolet light. Phototest and photo patch tests are performed to determine the cause of photosensitivity.

5. Immunology Patients with immunological skin diseases, including collagen vascular diseases, vasculitis and bullous diseases, are managed in this clinic.

6. Hansen’s disease Patients with Hansen’s disease are managed in this clinic in collaboration with specialists from the National Institute of Leprosy.

7. Genodermatosis Patients with congenital skin diseases, are cared for in this clinic. Counselling on prognoses and long term care are provided.

8. Alopecia and nail disorders This clinic provides special care for patients with hair loss and nail disorders from various causes.

9. Tropical dermatology Patients with tropical dermatological problems for example: T.B., granulomas, parasitic infestation, etc. are specially managed in this clinic.


In Patient Services 

There is a 43 bed ward provided for patients who need special nursing care of specific treatments in the hospital, such as, Psoriasis, SLE, Pemphigus, Erythema multiforme, etc. There are approximately 300 admissions annually.
